Wildlife art you’ll love
I am a wildlife artist. I love birds, especially water fowl local to Alberta and BC where I’m from. Tigers, bears, and even basset hounds can be a nice change too.
— Kathryn Limbert, Wildlife Artist
My father introduced me to the joy of creating art when I was just a young girl. Thanks to him, I’ve been painting or practicing some aspect of art my entire life.

I practice a very realistic style of painting, where you almost feel like you are involved in the scene. I use glazes as a layering technique to create that kind of depth and realism.
I’ve spent 20 years as a professional faux finisher and teacher. Over the years, I’ve gone from creating art on full-feature walls in homes to creating unique backgrounds for paintings using my faux finishing expertise.
Today, I continue expanding my artistic knowledge base by exploring new techniques and working in acrylics on different surfaces. I divide my time between my personal art studios in Koocanusa Village, BC and Cochrane, AB.
I work with gold leaf, acrylics, metallics, alcohol inks, foils and glazes on all sorts of different surfaces — copper, aluminum, slate, canvas, suede, glass, mulberry paper, wood, parchment paper. Anything that doesn’t move!
Every painting I do has a “slightly twisted” aspect to it, whether it’s the subject, the background, or the surface material.
The final step in every painting I do is the eyes. When I paint the eyes, the entire piece comes to life with personality and attitude.
